"Dan had been asking me to produce an album of his tunes for a long time, but I was too busy with my Bluebottlegreen project.
I finally found enough time in late 2001 to commit to working on the album, and over the winter and spring we set about turning Dan's simple acoustic demo's into multi-layered Brian Wilson-esque mini epics.
It was both eventful and inspirational working with Dan on this project. We often (temporarily) fell out whilst arguing over minor details, all in the name of raising the musical bar up a few notches! My favourites are Dirty Muddy River and Lundy Island.
I played a good deal of the instruments and sang some of the vocal harmonies, and I'm still very proud of the album we achieved through a lot of hard work and dedication to the cause. Completing this album got me in the mood for making my own albums, and I learnt a lot about vocal harmonies and layering whilst making this album with Dan."
