DAN RUSSELL LYRICS

Wrong Train Running
Life Will Set You Free

Dan Russell - Life Will Set You Free - 2006

Thought I was on the right train
As it pulled out of the station
I didn't recognise the first town
As it crossed the nation

When I hit the next town
I knew we was going in the wrong direction
So I alighted from the wrong train
And rushed for the other platform

Train pulled out as I got there
And I felt I wanted to cry
Timetable said one in one hour
I headed into town and ate fish and fries

Boarded the train at 8.40pm
Back to where I started two hours before
9.40 back in the City Lights
10pm bus, nearly there by rights

Walked the mile to my mother's
She is sleeping sound
Wait there for one hour
Catch another bus and I'm homeward bound

Opened my door at midnite
Collapsed down on my bed
Been travelling 5 hours
When it should have been 2 instead

I got on the Wrong Train
Wrong Train Runnin'
Cos I got on the Wrong Train
Wrong Train Runnin'

Dan says: "This is a pastiche of the Doobie Brothers classic, which is still my favourite all time guitar riff, and the tune I want playing as they lower me into the ground. This is a true tale of what happened on the return train journey from a visit to former Groove vocalist, Bev May, in Westbury, Wiltshire. Ironically, the very day before I had visited Salisbury with my son, and hadn't been to that town in years before that! Superb backing track and instruments by Jay!
