The Creek was formed by Dan Russell and John Baxter in December 2007, as an acoustic duo playing the South West open mic circuit.
The duo were soon joined by
Pacific Groove members John Dixey (bass) and Simon Sweet (drums), along with ex-Groove member Chris Hales (keyboards) and vocalist Julie Collins. Dave Hooper arrived shortly after as Simon Sweet's replacement.
Dan left
Pacific Groove in February 2008, and The Creek concentrated on playing 23 gigs across North Somerset and the West Coast during the first half of 2008. Recording sessions were ongoing during the year, resulting in an EP, called 'Colours', and the acclaimed debut album
It Doesn't Matter.

John Baxter left the group for three months in the spring of 2009, which prompted the recruitment of lead guitarist/vocalist Steve Harris. The Creek geared up for making a second album, a double, provisionally titled 'Approaching The Fluffy Outskirts Of Almost There'.
John Dixey decided to quit the band in August 2009, replaced by bassist Jon Ash, while 2009 ended with John Baxter and Steve Harris leaving for pastures new. David Hares soon joined to replace Steve on lead guitar.
The present line-up is expected to release a new album in the summer of 2010.
